Dreams have always fascinated me. How is it that while we're sleeping, our brain conjures up such ridiculous plot lines, with completely implausible characters, action scenes, and coincidences, and we become so wrapped up in it that it seems to be reality? Must we have yet ANOTHER world to deal with? As grateful as I am for good dreams, I must say that I'm not sure they're worth it for the bad dreams that come along with them.
I know we've all had the dream where you look down and are suddenly totally and inescapably naked, even though you know that just a couple seconds before, you confidently zipped right into your jeans. Or the one where you can't run from the really terrifying, unidentifiable thing that's chasing you. Then there's the classic nightmare where you miss a really important appointment or event you've been planning to attend for months.
I realized recently that I have three main nightmares:
Nightmare #1: All of my teeth fall out. I've had a ridiculous amount of orthodontia, including: 7 retainers and expanders, 1 set of headgear, 2 sets of braces, and a LOT of ibuprofen. I guess I feel like something still needs to go wrong and I'll need more work on my poor little mouth.
Nightmare #2: Tucanos. I have this one every night. It's always different, but similar in the sense that something goes wrong at work. Sometimes I just forget about my tables, and then they hate me. One time, I had to serve the whole restaurant by myself, and when I went to Glen in tears saying I couldn't do it, he responded by saying "You're not trying hard enough and you need to be out at your tables more, not back in the server station." Then there was the one where a lady at my table told me I was weird. That made me cry too...
Nightmare #3: Confrontation with others. I DESPISE confrontation. It makes me physically weak/sick to my stomach. My hands shake uncontrollably when I'm about to confront someone. And during the confrontation I always cry. I don't like fighting, arguing, yelling, correcting, you get the idea. I'm always the most happy when I wake up from these.
Liv! Those are nice restaurant dreams. especially the one about serving the whole restaurant, and the boss tells you to just try harder. ;) don't worry, your teeths aren't going to falls out. and it they do, russ can make REALLY SWEET dentures. trust me. i have seen them. and he could give you diamond studded fake teeth in them. so, as you now have a bro in law for a dentist, you shouldn't have to logically worry about the tooth one anymore...
