A Trip to the Windy City!

Alright, now that I’ve been home for a month, I would like to blog about my trip to Chicago. Ok, an apology is in order. Work and school have taken over the oh-so-fascinating life of Olivia Zippi, hence my extended absence from the blog. I sincerely apologize, and promise I will do better.

Chicago was an absolutely incredible trip! I stayed with one of my best friends, the one and only Stefanie. When I got to her house she ran out to the driveway to greet me, but not without bopping her head on the garage door first. Too excited to wait for the garage to open all the way I guess! It was so good to see Jack and Hector as well. And Elvis of course ☺.

The first day of the trip we went to the amazing Walker Brothers Pancake House. I always ordered the Belgian Waffle when I was little, but to my surprise I wasn’t in the mood. I ended up ordering a scrambled egg/bacon/pancake dish that tasted oddly similar to IHOP. I think I only like Walker Brother’s for the memories. The food, not so much.

After that, Stef drove me over to my old house, quite literally a trip down memory lane. It brought me to tears to see that beautiful house where I grew up. I had the weirdest sensation that I was just coming home from a really, REALLY long, hard, and exhausting vacation, and I was just about to run up to my little yellow bedroom and crash on my bed. The oddest thing was, as nostalgic as it was to see the house, it wasn’t the same without a bunch of Zippi kids + Christine running around. It was a house, but not our home.

I got to see the Gregorys while I was there. It was so fun to go in their house, which also brought back floods of memories. Even though neither of the dogs were Indy or Keeper, I pretended they were anyway. A lot has changed, but most of it hasn’t. I also went to my old ward, good ol’ BG1. I had a great time visiting with my old ward friends and seeing the familiar faces I grew up with. No one believed that I was little Olivia, all grown up. Not that I’ve grown much, but I certainly think I look 6 years older.

The best part of the trip was spending time with the Zimmermans. Stef and I spent a day in the city and a lot of money flew right out of our pockets and transformed into cute new clothes from Forever 21. I think we went to three different Forevers and bought something every time. Cute things, but an excessive amount nonetheless.

The rest of the time we just hung out at the Zimmerman’s house, which frankly was my favorite part. Stef and I stayed up until 1 or 2 in the morning watching movies and talking. We’d wake up whenever our little hearts desired, which usually wasn’t until early in the afternoon because of the lack of windows in the basement where we slept.

Spending time with Jack was also a lot of fun. This wasn’t something I was expecting to do, because I thought he’d be working and out with friends all the time. Luckily for me, he wasn’t. He and Stef and I had a great time laying out at the pool, studying for his tests for work, and playing with Elvis.

Thanks for having me over Zimmermans ☺. I really enjoyed myself more than you know. Now you have to come out and visit me! Ok great. It’s settled then. I’ll see you soon!!! (This is my roundabout way of making you subconsciously believe you’ve agreed to come and see me. Unfortunately I know this is in vain, but a girl can dream, can’t she?)

Love you guys!

I got to see the Gregorys!

I finally went to the bean. Finally.
